About
The focus of my creative energy has always been to combine art with function, for the things I make to be interacted with in a tactile way. It is important to me that my work feels accessible, that it can become a part of someone’s daily rituals, being touched and used. I take inspiration from changing forms and small details of nature and interpret them into my work. I think there is a mindfulness that comes with handling handmade objects and I hope to also impart some of my own appreciation of the natural world through what I make.
Initially studying jewellery and silversmithing I explored the boundaries of creativity and functionality in wearable pieces. After a break from education, with time spent traveling and my interest in handmade arts evolving, I was led back to studying with specialism in ceramics and tableware. I have a personal interest in sustainable eating, and I am also inspired by the way food can connect people socially. I think the serving of food in handmade vessels stands against fast food culture and can create a slower and more appreciative view to dining.
